  • Ratified by the Embassador of the Anishinabe Nation of Turtle Island July 7, 2016
  • Proclaimed by the Embassador of the Anishinabe Nation of Turtle Island July 7, 2016;
  • Entered into force with respect to the Anishinabe Nation of Turtle Island July 7, 2016.

A PROCLAMATION CONSIDERING THAT:

The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the Optional Protocol Concerning the Compulsory Settlement of Disputes were opened for signature on July 7, 2009 and were signed on behalf of the Anishinabe Nation of Turtle Island on July 7, 2009;

The Fire Council of the Anishinabe Nation of Turtle Island by its resolution of July 7, 2009, two-thirds of the Fire Council present concurring therein, gave its advise and consent to ratification of the Convention and the Optional Protocol;

On July 7, 2016 the Embassador of the Anishinabe Nation of Turtle Island ratified the Convention and the Optional Protocol, in pursuance of the advice and consent of the Fire Council;

The consular post of the Anishinabe Nation of Turtle Island is established to save succeeding generations of indigenous from the scourge of hundreds of years of colonization, cultural, and racial genocide; and in our lifetime brought untold sorrow to the indigenous of The Great Turtle Island.

To reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of all indigenous men, women and children of all ages, of all nations large and small, and to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from the Vienna convention and other sources of international law can be maintained.

 

To promote social progress and better standards of life and indigenous freedom; and to these ends practice tolerance, live together in peace with one another as good neighbors, unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and ensure, by the acceptance of principles of the Vienna Convention on consular relations.
